About The Position

The Audio Engineer is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of audio operations within the Murray Arts Center and across campus. This includes live sound reinforcement for productions, chapels, and events; recording, mixing, and production support for student ensembles, classes, and special projects; and the maintenance, installation, and optimization of audio systems and equipment. The Audio Engineer also oversees the daily operation and strategic use of the LeFevre SoundLab recording studio, including serving as the primary engineer for studio sessions, supporting student learning and recording projects, and facilitating appropriate internal and external use of the facility. Additional responsibilities include managing inventory, supporting event production needs through system design and setup, assisting with music technology instruction, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and professional audio environment aligned with the mission of Mount Paran Christian School.

Requirements

  • Technical degree in audio engineering, music technology, and/or 3-5 years audio engineering experience in live mixing and recording
  • Working knowledge of recording software (Pro Tools, Reason, Logic, Waves, etc…), recording and mixing consoles (Solid State Logic, Behringer, Yamaha), sound design, recording and mixing techniques
  • Knowledge of and proper care for digital and analog audio equipment
  • Positive, team-player with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Availability to work varied hours in a school environment subject to constant change
  • Must be flexible
  • Must be a committed follower of Christ
  • Lifting equipment, boxes, and other packages not exceeding 50 lbs (males) and 25 lbs (females); boxes heavier than 50 pounds should be lifted while wearing a back brace
  • Excellent cognitive and hearing abilities

Responsibilities

  • Accept the work at Mount Paran Christian School as a personal calling and identify themselves as ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ
  • Provide audio support for all school-sponsored and school-related events, including chapels, concerts, productions, rehearsals, and select off-campus or retreat events
  • Oversee all aspects of event audio, including planning, system setup, live mixing, recording, strike, and coordination with production teams
  • Oversee the operation, organization, and strategic use of the LeFevre SoundLab recording studio to support instructional, performance, and school-wide needs
  • Serve as the primary audio engineer for all studio sessions, including internal projects and approved external rentals
  • Support and guide student use of the recording studio, including mentoring in recording techniques, session workflow, and production best practices
  • Support recording and production needs, including multitrack recording, editing, mixing, and basic mastering for student, school, and promotional projects
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install audio equipment and systems across the Murray Arts Center and campus
  • Manage and document inventory of all audio equipment, supplies, and systems, including budgeting input and equipment lifecycle planning
  • Maintain and manage audio-related software, licenses, digital assets, and networked audio systems
  • Assist in the development and instruction of music technology and audio-related coursework, including mentoring students in recording and live production environments
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to meet technical needs for performances, events, and facility usage
  • Maintain awareness of event schedules and demonstrate flexibility in work hours based on school needs
  • Participate as a member of the production team for planning and execution of events and performances
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, proper equipment handling, and hearing protection practices
  • Provide audio engineering support for outside rental events as coordinated through administration
  • Uphold the mission, vision, and policies of Mount Paran Christian School, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Arts
