The Osher School of Music (OSOM) and Crewe Center for the Arts at the University of Southern Maine seeks an experienced and innovative Audio and Visual Technical Engineer to support and enhance OSOM’s academic, performance, and event technology needs. This position plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality audio and visual services across a variety of settings, including performance spaces, studios, practice rooms, classrooms, and the Great Hall Gallery. The Audio and Visual Technical Engineer is primarily responsible for the capture and production of all Osher School of Music/Crewe Center for the Arts performances, recording sessions, and public events. Additionally, the position is responsible for overseeing live audio and visual services for performances, meetings, and conferences serving both internal departments and external clients. The position also includes supervision of technical staff and student workers who deliver these highly visible services. In collaboration with the Director of Operations, the Audio and Visual Technical Engineer will research, plan, and recommend academic technology purchases, ensuring that OSOM remains at the forefront of AV and instructional technology. Additionally, this role provides instructional and technical support for audio engineering-related curriculum, contributing to the academic mission of OSOM. The ideal candidate will bring strong interpersonal, diplomatic, and problem-solving skills, and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment with minimal supervision.
