THIRTEENTH FLOOR ENTERTAINMENT GROUPLa Verne, CA
21h$70,000 - $85,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Attraction Layout & Visualization Designer is responsible for creating detailed 2D plans and 3D visualizations for large-scale festivals, immersive attractions, and touring events. They develop multi-layer CAD drawings and digital models that place all key show and site elements—stages, rides, tents, guest areas, back-of-house, life-safety features, and infrastructure—while meeting city, state, and venue requirements. This role combines production-focused CAD drafting, as seen in festival CAD Designer positions, with themed entertainment CAD practices used for shows, parades, and special events at major parks.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of experience in themed entertainment, attractions, festivals, zoo/aquarium, exhibition, architecture, or landscape projects with guest-facing environments.
  • Proficiency with Revit and at least one other 3D/visualization platform (Rhino, SketchUp, Grasshopper, etc.), plus Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools for presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing construction, bid, or permit drawings that interface with codes, accessibility, and life-safety requirements for assembly uses.
  • Familiarity or strong interest in working with local and state requirements for temporary and permanent event/assembly spaces (tents, attractions, large gatherings).
  • Ability to interpret creative direction and operational requirements and translate them into clear, buildable, and code-aware layouts.
  • Strong attention to detail, version control, and file organization in a fast-paced, seasonal, multi-project environment.
  • Effective collaborator and communicator, comfortable working with creative, production, operations, safety, and external vendors/consultants.

Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed 2D site plans and venue layouts (queues, plazas, tented venues, stages, FOH/BOH, egress, utilities) using tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, or similar CAD platforms.
  • Create visual mockups and presentation graphics (plans, sections, perspectives, quick 3D views) for internal teams, clients, and permitting authorities.
  • Incorporate state, city, and venue requirements into drawings, including egress paths, occupancy loads, accessibility clearances, fire lanes, and life-safety systems, in collaboration with safety and compliance teams.
  • Prepare drawing packages in the formats typically requested by authorities having jurisdiction (scaled PDF sets, clearly layered CAD files, annotated diagrams) for submittal, review, and revision cycles.
  • Translate creative sketches, story treatments, and operational needs into spatial layouts that support show narrative, guest flow, capacity, and on-the-ground operations for high-throughput attractions.
  • Participate in site walks and pre-production visits; verify field conditions and adjust plans to reflect terrain, existing infrastructure, and neighboring uses.
  • Revise drawings rapidly based on feedback from AHJs, internal stakeholders, and on-site changes during load-in, operation, and load-out.
  • Help maintain drawing standards, template files, and CAD libraries (blocks, layers, legends) for repeatable use across venues and seasons, similar to CAD design teams at major entertainment companies.
