About The Position

In this role, you will provide legal advice as needed for day-to-day business operations, engage and act as a liaison to outside counsel as required, as support the company’s litigation efforts. You'll do this by: Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating legal agreements and documents, including owner contracts, subcontracts, settlement agreements, company policies and procedures, employment agreements, and other legal documents. Performing legal research and offering legal advice to project teams regarding relevant laws and regulations affecting the company business in order to inform business decisions and mitigate risk. Reviewing, drafting, and editing correspondence with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and other third parties. Coordinating with outside counsel to assist the company in the preparation, pursuit, and defense of claims in arbitration, mediation, litigation, investigations and other matters. Coordinating and managing responses to document discovery and to other document requests, reviewing documents and preparing them to be produced in accordance with applicable policies, rules, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and four years of experience in the practice of law required.
  • Current Alabama Bar Law license required.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft software - Excel, Microsoft Word and Access.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
  • Ability to perform legal research and have the skills of a licensed lawyer.

Nice To Haves

  • Undergraduate courses with a focus on construction or engineering preferred.
  • Experience in construction, contract, and/or employment law, also preferred.
