About The Position
The State Farm® Law Department is dedicated to delivering legal services in an objective and unbiased manner, adhering to the ethical and professional standards set forth for attorneys. Within this department, the Corporate Law Division provides essential legal services to State Farm and its subsidiaries, while the Claim Litigation Counsel Division manages a diverse array of litigation activities on behalf of State Farm insureds and the State Farm Insurance Companies. Employees within the Law Department are committed to providing outstanding legal services that prioritize the best interests of both State Farm and its policyholder group. This position is classified as a hybrid role, requiring a combination of in-office and virtual work. Employees in hybrid roles must spend a portion of their time in the office, with the possibility of work arrangements evolving over time based on business needs. The in-house insurance defense law office, Amy F. Loperfido & Associates, is located in Philadelphia, PA, and serves the surrounding counties. The office boasts a busy civil trial practice and fosters a congenial, team-oriented professional environment supported by skilled staff. In this role, you will handle cases that involve claims of intermediate to difficult complexity, often with high financial exposure. This includes cases with complex medical issues, catastrophic injuries, or sensationalized accident facts. You will be responsible for managing non-suit tasks in a timely manner, as assigned by management, and will be expected to creatively draw from various areas of law to develop procedural and substantive strategies. Your expertise in cross-examination, expert testimony presentation, and conducting depositions will be crucial, as will your ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision while aligning with management in decision-making processes. Additionally, you will prepare detailed reports on complicated cases, mentor other attorneys, and contribute to the development of support staff.
