About The Position

The Attorney II position at American Tower's U.S. Tower division involves providing legal support for tenant licensing agreements and real estate transactions. The role requires preparing legal documents, resolving land-related issues, and collaborating with various departments to analyze contract terminations, renewals, and assignments. The Attorney II will also serve as an escalation point for customer matters and ensure compliance with legal standards.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree and a license to practice law in any state required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience required.
  • Experience negotiating complex contracts/licenses and drafting original contractual provisions strongly preferred.
  • Experience in the telecommunications tower or carrier industry strongly preferred.
  • Ability to apply legal expertise to make sound business decisions.
  • Excellent negotiation skills to resolve complex issues and conflicts.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Experience in the telecommunications tower or carrier industry.
  • Experience drafting original or unique contractual provisions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all documents relating to tenant licenses, ground leases, and easements.
  • Resolve land-related issues impacting customer applications or ground lease negotiations.
  • Review and provide legal analyses of contract terminations, renewals, and assignments.
  • Negotiate resolutions of customer issues related to non-compliance.
  • Serve as an escalation point for customer matters relating to national agreements.
  • Negotiate standard form and develop non-boilerplate documents for licensing and real estate negotiations.
  • Provide guidance on best practices and procedures for legal team functions.
  • Prepare written and verbal executive-level summaries for management regarding material contracts or proposals.
  • Inform customers of project statuses and resolve complex issues related to tower relocation projects.
