Reviews, investigates, prosecutes and presents cases to judges and grand jury; represents crime victims at court proceedings; conducts trials of criminal and juvenile cases. Represents District Attorney’s office and negotiates plea bargains, motions hearings, and bond reductions in criminal and juvenile cases. Provides counsel to law enforcement agencies on investigations, including preparing arrest and search warrants, and reviews all complaints for contested criminal and juvenile cases. Researches legal issues to prepare for motions and trial; supervises and coordinates the discovery process. Consults with, and provides legal advice to appropriate County departments; responds to public inquiries to resolve questions and/or refers to proper person. Liaisons with law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, providing training as required. Meets and assists with victims, witnesses, and other outside agencies and prepares subpoenas for the same; coordinates trial witnesses and evidence with staff and investigative division; Assists and/or instructs other employee with their duties; assigns, plans and reviews work of other employees. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
