About The Position

Handles appeal under the administrative procedures act and manages the department's response. Assists outside counsel in defense of civil lawsuits, including investigation and case preparation. Provides legal guidance to agency employees, attorneys, court officials and other agencies in the interpretation of state and federal laws and agency policies and procedures. Assists General Counsel's Office with agency orientation and legal training. Practice areas for the General Counsel's Office include constitutional law, litigation, contracts, employment law, appeals and administrative law.

Requirements

  • A juris doctor degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school.
  • A juris doctor degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school.
  • Membership in the South Carolina bar and completion of rule 403 requirements within six (6) months of employment.
