About The Position

The Equal Justice Works Attorney Fellows position is a full-time, 24-month fellowship aimed at providing legal assistance to low-income tenants facing eviction in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The fellows will work within the Housing Justice Program, focusing on eviction prevention and housing stability through direct legal services, community outreach, and advocacy. This role is designed for individuals passionate about social justice and committed to improving access to legal resources for vulnerable populations.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
• License to practice law
• Previous direct civil legal services experience, including law school clinics or internships
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice and increasing access to justice for individuals experiencing housing instability
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting
• Spanish proficiency is a plus

Responsibilities

• Providing direct legal services to low-income individuals facing eviction in various legal cases.
• Offering post-eviction housing stability services, including security deposit recovery and sealing court eviction records.
• Building relationships with key stakeholders to further fellowship objectives and foster partnerships among legal services providers and community organizations.
• Conducting training and outreach to communities regarding housing stability and affordability for low-income members.
• Participating in Housing Justice Program cohort activities, including webinars and training events.
• Exercising leadership competencies as an Equal Justice Works Fellow.
• Contributing to programmatic reporting and overall program evaluation.
