About The Position

The Independent Office of Audits and Investigations (IOAI) is seeking a highly motivated individual to work as Attorney, Assistant Chief Counsel. Under the general direction of the Inspector General (IG), the Attorney, Assistant Chief Counsel (ACC) is responsible for overseeing day to day operations of the Legal unit, including supervising and supporting a team of attorneys, managing their workload, interacting with and advising clients, and representing the IG and Independent Office of Audits and Investigations (IOAI) in various settings. The ACC researches, analyzes, interprets and applies laws, court decisions, regulations and other authorities to identify and assess legal risk management, and to provide legal advice, opinions, and briefs. The ACC handles a variety of house counsel work and oversight of litigation involving IOAI and the IG as a party. In addition, the ACC advises and represents the IG regarding internal personnel issues. Attorneys at this level have developed extensive experience regarding audits and investigations, including specific knowledge of contract and employment law. This position requires a high degree of integrity and ethics to further the IG's goals to implement and manage an independent audit and investigation program.
