About The Position

Collaborate with the Department’s Chief Legal Counsel, Division Chiefs, and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office on negotiations, settlements, and litigation, including civil and criminal enforcement actions. Draft, review, interpret and negotiate contracts, compliance agreements, Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), leases, easements, and other complex legal instruments. Advise on and resolve complex operational and construction-related issues, including delays, change orders, claims, and contractor disputes. Starting hourly pay of $43.09/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 6.5 years of service, with an end salary of $61.56/hr. There may also be cost of living adjustments (COLA) applied. Longevity pay supplements begin after five (5) years of state service. Requirements

  • Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of Revised Code AND 18 mos. exp. as licensed attorney AND 6 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques.

  • Completion of 24 credit hours of continuing legal education from accredited programs for applicable two-year reporting period pursuant to Rule X of Rules of Government of Bar of Ohio.
  • Current certificate of registration pursuant to Rule VII of Rules of Government of Bar of Ohio.
