The Ohio Board of Nursing is seeking a qualified candidate for our available Attorney 4 position to assist in the Compliance Unit. This position will work under the direction/supervision of a Supervising Attorney and will perform the following job duties: Conduct legal research and prepare reports for the Board of Nursing Compliance Teams. Analyze settlement offers related to administrative appeal cases. Determine what evidence may be needed and what course of action is recommended for alleged violations of the Nurse Practice Act. Review completed investigation reports and monitoring records to determine if sufficient evidence exists to propose disciplinary action. Prepares legal documents for disciplinary action as determined by the Board. Assists with conducting settlement conferences. Provides advice to departmental administrative support staff on matters of multiple and complex legal and factual issues. Responds to inquiries from general public and provides excellent customer service. Discusses the law regulating the practice of nursing and Board rules and policies, as they relate to the disciplinary process, with the health care community, licensees and the public. Responds to inquiries about the Board (e.g., in person, in writing, via email, USPS mail, etc.). Selected candidate(s) must successfully complete a background check. The Ohio Board of Nursing (OBN) regulates more than 300,000 licenses and certificates. OBN licenses and regulates Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Advanced Practice Nurses (APRNs), Dialysis Technicians (DTs), Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Medication Aides (MA-Cs). OBN's top priorities are to efficiently license the nursing workforce and remove unsafe practitioners from practice in a timely manner to protect Ohio patients. Public protection is critical, as nursing touches virtually every citizen of Ohio.

Requirements

  • Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of Revised Code
  • 6 mos. exp. as licensed attorney.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated licensure.
