About The Position

The position involves providing daily care and maintenance for large animals in a hospital setting, ensuring cleanliness and organization of patient facilities, and assisting with various tasks to support animal treatment and care. The role requires effective time management and adherence to biosecurity protocols to maintain a safe environment for both animals and staff.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Large animal handling experience required.
• Ability to operate a variety of motorized equipment including forklift, tractor, and standard dump truck required.
• Ability to perform strenuous work and tolerate exposure to weather, chemicals, and allergens required.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily care and feeding of animals.
• Clean and maintain stall facilities, including disinfecting stalls and managing water and feed buckets.
• Assist in maintaining patient treatment areas and equipment, ensuring cleanliness post-treatment.
• Organize and maintain stock of paperwork and ensure critical care areas are fully stocked with necessary materials.
• Feed, groom, and walk animals as required.
• Ensure patients have clean water, feed, and hay according to treatment orders.
• Perform general housekeeping and grounds keeping tasks.
• Assist with the movement of large animal patients and supplies.
• Transport bedding and feed materials to/from patient areas.
• Operate motorized equipment such as forklifts, tractors, and dump trucks.
• Contribute to a professional and safe hospital environment.
• Effectively manage time and plan daily activities for excellent patient care.
• Follow biosecurity protocols and standard operating procedures for safety and efficiency.
• Document stall cleaning status to ensure efficient turnover.
• Assist in all areas as needed for the efficient operation of the hospital.
