Maintains a productivity standard of at least four (4) clinical days per week, full-time status. In addition, participates in the on-call schedule as specified by the Division and/or Department Chairs. Provides close supervision of all house staff encountered in the course of duty ensuring quality care and provides assessment of resident surgeons as directed by the Division chair to fulfill the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education requirements. Participates in the education of medical students, physician assistant students, podiatry students and nursing students. Documents clinical activity in clinics, wards, operating rooms and emergency rooms. Opportunities for research and obligation regarding its performance are by individual arrangement with the Division Chair. Obtains and/or maintains surgical privileges and remains clinically active at both John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital and Provident Hospital as directed. Must maintain certification by the American Board of Surgery or the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and competency in Vascular Surgery as required to fulfill patient care responsibilities for patients treated by Cook County Health (CCH).
