A Brief Overview The physician evaluates and treats patients in an applicable medical and/or surgical specialty or subspecialty within a hospital, inpatient, outpatient, or an affiliate practice. Physician documents medical findings in EPIC, provides support to patients, families, and colleagues, and collaborates with office administration, nursing, and other clinical staff. Sees patients to diagnose and/or treat various conditions within the specialty and/or subspecialty. Assesses the complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients for urgent and emergent conditions. Uses relevant data to evaluate for physiologic instability. Utilizes all available data to formulate a care plan. Orders labs, testing, or medication, as appropriate. May provide supervision and mentorship of trainees and/or advanced practice providers and support the professional development of other clinical staff. Complies with all applicable federal, state, local, legal, regulatory, and clinical standards and requirements including (but not limited to): HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission, DOH and CLIA. May represent CHOP with external organizations or professional associations upon request.
