About The Position

The Attendance Clerk at Bryan ISD is responsible for maintaining accurate attendance records, enrolling and withdrawing students, and managing student demographic information. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with district and state regulations regarding student attendance and records management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Proficient word processing and file maintenance skills.
  • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office or an equivalent computer program to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing.
  • Ability to prioritize workflow to address multiple needs of the supervisor.
  • Ability to multi-task numerous complex administrative activities.
  • Excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
  • Secretarial experience in a public education environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance on a daily basis.
  • Code reasons for student attendance.
  • Maintain attendance documentation.
  • Prepare any requested/required attendance reports in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate the enrollment of students through the collection of required documents, ensuring accurate completion of forms, and enrolling students in the student information system.
  • Prepare documents for students who are withdrawing and withdraw students from the student information system.
  • Maintain current student demographic information.
  • Prepare demographic, enrollment, and withdrawal reports as requested in a timely manner.
  • Send, receive, and process student records according to district and state guidelines.
  • Compile, maintain, and secure permanent student records.
  • Attend required trainings.
  • Prepare honor roll information.
  • May print Interim Progress Reports and Report Cards.
  • Maintain knowledge of district and state rules and regulations relating to student attendance accounting.
  • Protect confidentiality of school records and information about students and staff.
  • Assist students, teachers, and parents as needed.
  • Assist other office staff in answering phones, greeting the public, and other routine activities as needed.
  • Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
  • Demonstrate appropriate telephone etiquette, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
  • Greet visitors, answering telephone calls in a pleasant and efficient manner, and communicating effectively in routine, sensitive, and confidential matters.
  • Manage the campus visitor check-in software and campus visitor sign-in log.
  • Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the Principal or designee.
