About The Position

We have openings for graduate students to engage in practical research experience to further their educational goals. Opportunities include working on various projects within atmospheric science, climate and carbon cycle research, seismology, hydrology, geoscience, environmental science, accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS), and energy research. Our mission is to integrate atmospheric, earth, and energy sciences in support of environmental and global security. Work with engineers, scientists, and technical staff members to provide technical and/or research support to projects in areas relevant to atmospheric, earth, and energy sciences. Conduct research of moderate complexity in assigned area under limited direction and supervision. Gather and analyze data or information in support of scientific research. Communicate progress and results to the research group and work closely with team members to define project goals and address challenges. Present work to technical audiences through presentations, posters, and written reports. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to access the Laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). See Additional Information section below for details.
  • Must be a continuing student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing a graduate degree in science, engineering, mathematics, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrate interest in topics of relevance to atmospheric, earth, or energy sciences, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to apply basic engineering or scientific principles to solve technical problems.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills to communicate research concepts, document work, and give technical talks/presentations.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
