About The Position

Atlas seeks to enhance peace and prevent violence in New York City through transformative investments in families, community-based organizations, and in the systems meant to maintain accountability and public safety. Through our work, we are committed to building on people’s strength and agency, and transforming government from enforcement and coercion to avoiding harm and ensuring that we approach people with transparency about racial trauma, economic disparities, the impact of poverty on experiences and behaviors, and social justice as factors that contribute to their true and perceived success. In our Senior Supervisor position, we are looking for candidates with strong organization and communication skills. Candidate must have a desire to train and mentor new program Supervisors and rising leaders. To serve as a liaison between the Atlas Program and other community-based organizations and monitor and evaluate clinical services to ensure quality and effectiveness. Candidates should be already existing ATLAS FFT Therapist supervisor. They should have a natural passion for social justice and the ability to see humanity and dignity in people from all walks of life.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in social work, or another field in which community, mental health, public health and sociology are at the core of the program, is preferred.
  • Must have mastered and is currently working within the Functional Family Therapy philosophy and framework.
  • At least two years of practice in a supervisory role within FFT Atlas.
  • The ideal candidate must have a passion and an active drive to dismantle current systems of oppression that have historically caused harm within NYC’s communities of color.
  • Experience working with the ATLAS project on a grassroot level and have made continuous strides in expanding the mission of the program.
  • Ability to make connections between the experiences of our families and the impact of systemic oppression.
  • Commitment to a strengths-based perspective and helping families identify and access their internal and external resources as a path to growth and change.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; an ability to connect with, support, and understand others.
  • Strong public speaking skills with the ability to inspire and activate the recipients of our message.
  • Ability to set appropriate boundaries and limits for best practice
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to work in-person in New York City (NY) for at least 3 days or more per week.
  • Ability to travel to other Rising Ground sites (if required)
  • Ability to travel to various locations, including home-based clinical treatments. Work-related travel expenses will be reimbursed by agency.

Responsibilities

  • Train staff to practice through a racial/social justice lens AND maintain model adherence.
  • Supervise up to 4 ATLAS employees.
  • Participate in all FFT training and consultation activities, and program reviews.
  • Carry a case load of no more than 2 and provide the FFT model.
  • Supervise in a way that supports freedom and meets nonnegotiable stakeholder requirements to maintain funding.
  • Uplift FFT Therapist's identities and/or experiences as a valuable component of the therapeutic relationship.
  • Develop and implement professional development plans for FFT therapists and Interventionists.
  • Foster relationships with community leaders and stakeholders.
  • Promote program awareness and community participation.
  • In collaboration with Intake Coordinator, ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping.
  • Spearhead program initiatives and community event planning.
  • Prepare regular reports for funders and stakeholders.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
  • Advocate for resources and support for the program.
  • Represent the program in meetings and forums.
  • Perform other duties as requested by direct supervisor.
