About The Position

The Athletics Graphic Designer conceptualizes, plans, and executes digital and/or print design to support the strategic objectives of the institution, creating on-brand, compelling visual assets to inform, educate, inspire, and/or persuade. This role involves collaborating with other creative professionals, managing project workflow, maintaining files, and adhering to established processes. The designer will create, design, and produce artwork per project specifications across various mediums, provide information and problem resolution to clients, and identify cost-effective options. They will also schedule logistics, secure resources, organize, and monitor art production projects to meet timelines. Specific to this position, the designer will promote the athletic program's philosophy and objectives, ensuring adherence to all departmental policies, university rules, governing sport conference(s), and NCAA regulations. They will design and produce high-quality graphics and creative media for the athletic department to advance its brand and creative strategies, support content management for social media accounts, assist in developing creative concepts and integrated campaigns, and ensure alignment with brand standards. The role also includes assisting with photography, videography, and digital needs as part of the Athletics Communication team, organizing digital asset libraries, and ensuring all content complies with NCAA, conference, and institutional guidelines. Additional departmental support and assigned tasks from the Director of Athletics are also part of the role, along with completing required trainings and professional development.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of brand management and maintaining visual identity standards
  • Familiarity with athletics culture, recruiting, and fan engagement strategies
  • Understanding of social media platforms and content trends, particularly in collegiate athletics
  • Strong visual design and storytelling skills, with the ability to create compelling, on-brand graphics
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and motion graphics/video editing tools
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a collaborative team
  • Ability to resolve complex problems and conflict management
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills both orally and written
  • Minimum Education: Associate’s Degree to be completed by May 31, 2026
  • One year of demonstrated experience working in graphic design or related field
  • Candidates must be independently, legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain their work authorization without the support or help of UW-Superior throughout employment

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, to be completed by May 31, 2026
  • Two years of demonstrated experience working in collegiate athletics with responsibility in graphic design and creative content

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualizes, plans, and executes digital and/or print design to support the strategic objectives of the institution
  • Creates on-brand, compelling visual assets used to inform, educate, inspire, and/or persuade
  • Works collaboratively with other creative professionals, engages in and responds to creative feedback, manages project workflow and timing, maintains files, and follows established work unit processes
  • Creates, designs, and produces artwork per project specifications through various mediums
  • Answers questions and provides information and problem resolution options to clients and stakeholders
  • Analyzes and identifies cost effective options to meet project requirements
  • Applies creative expertise within established brand and style guidelines
  • Schedules logistics, secures resources, organizes, and monitors art production projects adhering to established timelines and expectations
  • Promote the philosophy and objectives of the athletic program; to include adhering to and enforcing all departmental policies and procedures, as well as rules and regulations of the university, governing sport conference(s), and the National Collegiate Athletic Associate (NCAA)
  • Design and produce high-quality graphics and creative media for the athletic department and its programs to advance and execute the brand and creative strategies of the department and university
  • Support the content management of the athletic department social media accounts to ensure alignment of department and university marketing, branding and creative strategies
  • Assist in the development of creative concepts and integrated campaigns, while evaluating and ensuring alignment with established brand standards and visual identity guidelines
  • Assist with photography, videography, and digital needs as part of the Athletics Communication team
  • Organize and maintain digital asset libraries, including photos, templates, and design files
  • Ensure all content adheres to NCAA, governing sport conference(s), and institutional policies and guidelines
  • Provide additional departmental support to and tasks assigned by the Director of Athletics
  • Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
