About The Position

Bring the energy, teamwork, and love of sports to camp this summer! The Athletics Specialist is responsible for planning and leading safe, engaging, and age-appropriate athletic programming for campers ages 5–15. From skill-building drills to field games, this role focuses on teaching proper techniques, sportsmanship, and confidence while making sure every camper feels included and has fun. Working as a senior staff member alongside the Camp Coordinator, the Athletics Specialist plays an important role in delivering a dynamic, well-rounded camp experience for both Day and Resident Camps.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • High School degree, High School degree equivalent, or be working towards either certification
  • Certified in standard first aid and CPR, or ability to become certified
  • The ability to teach patrons and members the proper techniques and fundamentals of field sports
  • Ability to interact with staff of all levels.
  • Demonstrate internal and external customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and execute daily athletics activities using sports equipment, field space, and exercise to create a safe, engaging, and educational environment appropriate for children 5-15 years old.
  • Instruct different levels of skill and safety classes.
  • Maintain athletics equipment and inspect issues; document unsafe equipment and remove it from the inventory to be repaired or replaced.
  • Provide first aid in emergency situations.
  • Act as a senior staff member, working with the Camp Coordinator and other senior staff members, in the coordination of camp activities. In particular, the boating program as it relates to the overall camp program of both Day and Resident camps.
  • Proper instruction of all aspects of athletics.
  • Development of proper field sports skills.
  • That it is an enjoyable activity for all campers & guests.
  • Ability to observe camper behavior, assess appropriateness enforce appropriate safety regulations or emergency procedures, apply appropriate management techniques.
