Athletics Attendant Job Title: Athletics Attendant Department: Recreation Status: Seasonal, Part-Time, Non-Exempt (FLSA) Wage: $15.00 - $15.90, DOQ General Purpose The Athletics Attendant supports the Athletic Supervisor and Basketball Coordinator in athletic league supervision. Responsibilities include supervising fields and courts during practices and games, scorekeeping during games, and maintenance duties. This is a seasonal, non-exempt position that requires availability during days, evenings, and weekends. Supervision: Athletic Supervisor Specific Responsibilities: · Attend required trainings and onboarding process to learn the role. · Act as court or field supervisor on assigned practice days. · Maintain field or court space as assigned by Athletic Supervisor. · Act as court supervisor or scorekeeper during league games. · Work with other Athletic Attendant staff to ensure facilities are clean and safe for gameplay. · Assist in player evaluations for assigned leagues. Communication: · Communicate with players, coaches, parents, referees, and other staff. · Maintain accurate records of program activity and report any incidents. · Maintain athletics related inventory including basketballs, footballs, cones, and uniforms. · Be knowledgeable about program details, facilities, and equipment. Essential Functions: · Must be able to move freely throughout indoor and outdoor facilities and transport or set up equipment independently (up to 50 lbs. independently). · Must be able to communicate effectively with children ages 6–14, staff, and the general public. · Must possess visual and auditory acuity to identify and respond to environmental hazards and participant needs. · Must be able to observe participant behavior, assess appropriateness, and enforce established safety rules, emergency procedures, and behavior management protocols. · Must be physically capable of responding to emergencies, including assisting with evacuations, administering basic first aid, or securing help in the event of illness or injury. · Must have the strength and stamina to maintain alert supervision of program participants and staff for extended periods, including during high-activity events and outdoor conditions. PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS While performing the duties of this position, the Athletics Attendant may be exposed to work-related stress and pressure in the following areas: · Responsibility for the timely, effective, and efficient delivery of athletic programs. · Resolving conflicts or addressing concerns involving participants, parents, officials, and staff. · Managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, the employee must meet the following physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation: · Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time. · Ability to lift and carry equipment or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds independently. · Exposure to indoor gym environments and outdoor conditions during program activities.
