About The Position

Under the direction of the Athletics Supervisor, the Athletics Assistant is responsible for assisting with the development, implementation and supervision of all areas associated with the Athletics Department; including but not limited to adult and youth athletic programs and events.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Working knowledge of youth and adult sports programs.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficient administrative skills including knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office and specific software programs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings, mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff and general public
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Possess skills to maintain a safe environment, as well as performing quality work
  • Ability to understand, comprehend, and follow all policies and procedures as well as verbalized and written instructions directed by management
  • Ability to interact with the public in a positive and professional manner in possibly stressful and emotionally charged situations
  • Ability to stand, reach and kneel
  • Ability to talk and/or hear managers, co-workers and general public
  • Ability to lift, carry or transport objects up to 50 lbs. assisted
  • Ability to see objects closely and at a distance

Nice To Haves

  • Previous recreational athletics coaching experience.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Previous experience with marketing and promotions.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Athletics Supervisor with planning, developing, scheduling and promoting adult and youth sports programs to include instructional, team leagues, camps, clinics and tournaments for all levels of ability and all age groups.
  • Provides a secondary contact for customer questions and/or concerns related to the Athletics department.
  • Provides assistance with public relations, including but not limited to initiating contacts with schools, organized leagues, sports associations, and surrounding communities to develop relationships in regards to sports and athletic opportunities.
  • Assist with promoting athletic programs through various means available including flyers, updating bulletin boards, public relations activities, and preparing information for the District brochure.
  • Assist Athletic Supervisor with long range planning and goals regarding Athletic programming and practices.
  • Set up and tear down equipment before and after programs as needed.
  • Fill in for various positions throughout the department as needed.
  • Must maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork.
  • Must maintain a positive and friendly attitude while engaged in stressful and/or controversial situations with patrons and co-workers.
  • Comply with District rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Performs various other duties as assigned by Athletics Supervisor.
