About The Position

The Athletics Assistant Coach position involves organizing and administering intercollegiate sports, supervising staff, and managing budgets. Responsibilities include conducting practices, recruiting qualified student-athletes, developing competitive schedules, coordinating team travel, and ensuring compliance with governing rules and regulations. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will assist in developing and implementing strength and conditioning programs, providing expert knowledge and instruction to support a competitive intercollegiate athletics program, and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Coaching experience in the sport you are applying for position.
  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) for Assistant Coach.
  • Bachelor's degree for Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.
  • Current strength and conditioning certification from a nationally recognized program such as CSCS, SCCC, or CSC.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities

  • Organizing and operating an effective sports program.
  • Recruiting effectively in guidelines set by the University, conference, and the NCAA.
  • Planning and organizing off-season conditioning programs.
  • Promoting UW Oshkosh through clinics, camps, and speaking engagements.
  • Planning and organizing in-season practice sessions.
  • Counseling student-athletes and setting up short/long term goals.
  • Guiding, directing, and supporting Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) initiatives and efforts.
  • Working with the marketing team on game environment and community outreach initiatives.
  • Assisting in the development and monitoring of individual and team weight training and conditioning programs.
  • Entering and maintaining computerized data and tracking of individual and team student-athlete workouts.
  • Assisting with the instruction and execution of conditioning simulations and exercises for a designated athletic team.
  • Serving as a point of contact and liaison to coaching staff, medical professionals, and student-athletes.
