About The Position

The Athletics and After-School Programs Coordinator supports the daily operations of the athletics and after-school department. This role helps ensure programs run smoothly, students are safe and engaged, and communication between families, coaches, instructors, and school staff stays clear and timely. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on support role. The position spends time both in the office (with administrative tasks, logistics, and communication) as well as in program spaces (supporting dismissal, assisting with activities, and helping solve real-time issues).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, sports management, recreation, child development, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience working with children in athletics, after-school programs, camps, or a classroom environment.
  • Experience supporting program logistics, scheduling, or day-to-day operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, adapt to changing needs, and support solutions in a fast-paced school environment.
  • Ability to actively supervise students both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions.
  • Capacity to meet Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) licensing requirements.
  • Physical ability to meet the demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds and engaging in activities such as bending, crouching, or sitting on the ground.
  • Readiness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification, and maintain throughout employment.
  • Successful completion of required background checks in accordance with school policy and state regulations.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, flexible, and growth-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency with basic technology tools and a willingness to learn school-specific systems.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and community of STS.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with student information systems or registration platforms preferred (such as Veracross, SchoolPass, Arbiter, or similar systems).
  • Basic knowledge of youth athletics operations, safety practices, and program supervision preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the smooth, day-to-day operations of the athletics and after-school department, including game and practice logistics, after-school classes, extended day programming, and related administrative tasks.
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date team rosters in school systems such as Veracross and SchoolPass.
  • Reviews and verifies game and practice schedules to ensure alignment across all platforms, including Arbiter, Veracross, and school calendars.
  • Ensures compliance by tracking required coaching certifications and parent training.
  • Assists with inventory management of athletic equipment, uniforms, and coaching materials.
  • Serves as an additional point of contact and program resource for faculty, staff, students, parents, and coaches.
  • Provides on-site support during practices and competitions as needed, including first aid response, gym supervision, coaching support, student behavior support, and dismissal coordination.
  • Supports daily logistics of the after-school program and provides staffing support for extended day coverage, as needed.
  • Actively engages in the life of the school and contributes to community-wide events and programs.
  • Upholds and models the mission, values, and strategic priorities of STS.
  • Demonstrates respect for diverse perspectives and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Collaborates across departments and participates in team meetings to support a cohesive preschool through eighth grade experience.
  • Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion.
  • Adheres to school policies and procedures and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and After-School Programs.
