About The Position
The Athletics Academic Coordinator at Norfolk State University is responsible for coordinating support systems and services for academically at-risk student athletes. This includes tutoring, learning disabilities support, and student counseling. The coordinator will track and document student athletes' academic performance and facilitate the organization and implementation of individualized study and review sessions. Additionally, the role involves developing and implementing systematic applications of learning interventions and study strategies, serving as an academic advisor for an assigned team, and coordinating services to address the needs of students with accommodations while liaising with the campus office of Disability Services. The coordinator must adhere to the rules, regulations, and policies of the Commonwealth of Virginia, NSU, NCAA, and MEAC.
