Responsibilities for the Athletics Academic Advisor/Learning Specialist include, but are not limited to the following: Provides effective academic advising and up-to-date campus information to selected sports; conducts individual advising appointments with student-athletes who have concerns about their major choices, progress toward degree, grades, or any other aspects that may impede their success toward graduation and NCAA eligibility and Academic Progress Rate (APR) requirements Provides effective academic support as a learning specialist for those selected "at-risk" student-athletes, as assigned Maintains appropriate documentation and academic records to verify compliance with NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations; possesses knowledge of NCAA rules, graduation requirements, and general academic regulations Serves as co-coordinator of Books and Materials program with the Assistant Director of Academic Achievement Assists with Guest Coach, Career Development, Mentor, and Faculty Fellows programs The work hours for this position include occasional nights and weekends.
