Athletic Trainer — Deliver Exceptional Care in a Clinic-Based Sports Medicine Role This full‑time, clinic‑based Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) position at OrthoVirginia gives you the opportunity to support athletes through every stage of injury, recovery, and performance. You’ll work directly within our Lynchburg and Forest therapy clinics, collaborating with Physical Therapists, Hand Therapists, and a multidisciplinary medical team to provide high‑quality care in a structured, patient‑focused environment. This role is ideal for an AT who thrives in a clinical setting, values teamwork, and wants to make a meaningful impact on athlete health and rehabilitation.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform athletic training duties efficiently, including emergency response, injury assessment, documentation, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Strong judgment in identifying and responding to athlete needs in a timely, professional manner.
  • Clear understanding of the athletic trainer’s role within a comprehensive sports medicine and orthopedic care team.
  • Familiarity with policies and procedures in athletic training facilities and orthopedic clinics.
  • Professional representation of OrthoVirginia in the community, including wearing the OrthoVirginia uniform.
  • Current NATABOC certification.
  • Valid Virginia state licensure, or eligibility.
  • Experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer, ideally aligned with the sport, level of play, or athlete demographic relevant to this role.
  • Physical capability to meet the ergonomic demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical services including emergency care, injury prevention, assessment, referrals, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Maintain emergency readiness for sanctioned practices and events while primarily operating from the clinic.
  • Communicate clearly with athletes, coaches, sports performance staff, administrators, and medical providers to ensure coordinated care and accurate progress updates.
  • Protect athlete privacy by maintaining strict confidentiality of treatment plans and medical records.
  • Support daily clinic operations by assisting concussion patients and working alongside Physical and Hand Therapists in our Lynchburg and/or Forest multi‑specialty offices.
  • Complete administrative and athletic training duties that contribute to smooth clinic workflow.
