About The Position

The primary responsibilities of the Certified Athletic Trainer are to provide exceptional rehabilitative care to injured athletes and patients, to educate athletes, patients, and the public on injury prevention, rehabilitation, wellness and other health-related issues, and to maintain the highest standards of care and integrity. The position will work in the Outpatient Rehab Services Department, Orthopedic Department and at local high schools, middle school, community college and other community events as necessary.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in health-related field with current Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer.
  • Current Minnesota Athletic Trainer License.
  • Current BLS (CPR) certification or ability to obtain within 2 months of hire.
  • Ability to interact with various types and ages of patients
  • Ability to educate patients and their families.
  • Demonstrate participation in Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital's Mission, Vision & Values.
  • Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • One or two years of experience in athletic training setting is preferred.
  • Entry-level graduates with NATA BOC certification will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provides treatment and documents service to patients.
  • Communicates information regarding patient treatments within confidentiality guidelines.
  • Provides athletic training services outside the Hospital and Clinic setting per state and NATA guidelines as requested.
  • Participates in building team relationships inter- and intra-departmentally.
  • Recognizes that employment is offered based on compliance with work schedules, which are the responsibility of the employee to follow.
  • Abides by Hospital philosophy that we will provide and promote excellence in health care services and will recognize all our customers and their with respect and dignity.
  • Responsible for following safe and healthful work practices.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, facility staff and members of the department.
  • Coordinates and assists with directing patient care to ensure patient's needs are met and facility policy is followed.
  • Maintains records pertinent to personnel and operation of the department.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
  • Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
  • Documentation meets current standards and policies.
