About The Position

As a Clinical Athletic Trainer with OAM, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive care to patients with orthopaedic injuries and conditions. You will work closely with our providers, physical therapists, and other care team members to optimize patient outcomes and facilitate the recovery process. This position requires a deep understanding of athletic injuries, rehabilitation protocols, and therapeutic techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • 1+ years of experience as an Athletic Trainer.
  • Certification by the National Athletic Trainers’ Associates Board of Certification (NATABOC).
  • Eligible for State of Michigan Licensure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Updated knowledge on Athletic Training practices, rules, and regulations.
  • Familiarity with state law and national regulations, athletic trainer guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and reaching required.
  • Employee may be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity required to operate modern office equipment.
  • Employee must have normal or correctible range of hearing and eyesight.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience working in a clinical setting
  • Experience with NextGen.
  • Experience with injuries to joints and/or hands and upper extremities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients to determine the extent of their condition, identifying the underlying causes and contributing factors. Present findings to provider.
  • Collaborate with providers other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans for patients, incorporating therapeutic exercise, manual therapy techniques, and other modalities as appropriate.
  • Assist with overseeing prescribed treatment plans rehabilitation programs for patients, utilizing evidence-based techniques and protocols. Monitor progress, make necessary adjustments, and provide ongoing support and education to patients during the recovery process.
  • Speak with patients via phone to determine the necessary course of action based on the symptoms exhibited.
  • Order X-Rays, MRIs, CT scans and other diagnostic tests/labs and DME as directed by the physician.
  • Remove of sutures/staples and casts/splints and provide simple wound care. Assist with injections and aspirations if qualified.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records; documenting patient evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant information.
  • Adhere to professional standards, ethical guidelines, and legal requirements related to athletic training practice. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and institutional policies, including patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Schedule outside studies and make referrals as ordered by the Physician. 1. Obtain appropriate authorizations. 2. Follow up on studies to ensure they were scheduled and completed. 3. Ensure follow up appointments are scheduled as needed.
  • Initiate and help to complete the surgery scheduling process; document health history verification, surgical date selection, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
