We are seeking an Athletic Trainer to provide direct and indirect care to patients at our Duke Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics located in Cary, NC.

Requirements

• A four-year college degree meeting the requirements of an athletic trainer
• License to practice in North Carolina from NCBATE
• National BOC certification
• Licensed by NC Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners
• Current CPR certification

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and collecting histories
• Documenting 1st pass HPI and charting
• Answering phone calls and completing forms
• Teaching HEP and walking with crutches
• Prepping clinics and obtaining test results
• Updating charts and verifying insurance
• Obtaining authorizations and coordinating referrals and appointments
• Cleaning exam rooms and ordering and stocking supplies
• Restocking exam rooms and cleaning exam tables
• Maintaining a safe work environment by checking for expired supplies and medications
• Emptying sharps containers
• Promoting patient rights and responding to emergency codes
• Following HR, Compliance and Joint Commission policies
• Performing duties according to state law, including autoclaving, checking vital signs, suture removal, dressing changes, entering orders based on physician protocols, and applying DME to patients
• Developing the ability to remove casts and apply basic splints
• Fitting all DME products used in the clinic
• Evaluating patients during their first post-operative visit with physician or APP support
