About The Position

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine Care Network, as an Athletic Trainer at our LaGrange clinic. Here, you will work with our Orthopaedic team. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. Our new orthopaedic clinic will offer easy access to exceptional orthopaedic care for adult and pediatric patients in the western suburbs. The new site will be staffed by a team of highly skilled UChicago Medicine orthopaedic surgeons specializing in preventing, diagnosing and treating joint, hand and pediatric orthopaedic conditions. Located in the medical office building on the UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange Hospital campus. The Athletic Trainer UCM Care Network supports physicians and care team, focusing on the prevention, evaluation, management, and treatment of injuries. ATC directly supports the physicians by coordinating care and communicating with patients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required from Athletic Training program.
  • Licensure as Athletic Trainer in State of Illinois.
  • BLS Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of Athletic Training experience preferred.
  • Previous Orthopedic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the coordination of daily clinic schedules for all providers while monitoring workflows to maintain the clinic's operational efficiency.
  • Prepare charts to ensure that providers have the necessary results, images, and medical records for each office visit.
  • Manage EPIC in-basket messages, emails, patient follow-up phone calls, and related paperwork.
  • Deliver high-quality patient care by conducting initial assessments and screenings during the rooming process.
  • Document referral sources and gather emergency and caregiver information for each patient.
  • Provide a therapeutic exercise plan, patient education materials; follow up planning, and referrals.
  • Carries out all prescribed treatments and recommendations by the physician, including assisting in the exam/procedure room with patient positioning, prepping, draping during in office procedures.
  • Assist with examination, procedures and treatments (suture removal, fit patients with braces, crutches and other associated durable medical equipment, applying casts).
  • Performs appropriate physical and/or development assessments.
  • Designs and implements plans of care under physicians' direction.
  • Documents evaluations and plans of care according to department policy including goals, modifications of treatment plans and individual's response to treatment.
  • Evaluates and revises plan of care based on changes in patient status and the individual's response to treatment.
  • Delivers physical care to athlete following medical direction including monitoring of individual's response and results during care.
  • Educates/instructs patients regarding their medical condition, treatment plan medications, and other appropriate information.
  • Recognizes and escalates emergencies to physicians.
  • Review therapy exercises, stretching and other patient education with patient and family.
  • Documents appropriately in-patient chart.
  • Prepare and maintain the examination and procedure rooms: Ensure patient and procedure rooms are clean, ensure availability of supplies, ensure equipment is working properly, removing any equipment from service, and reporting failure appropriately.
  • Collaborate with community resources, equipment, home care vendors, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Physician and Clinic Leadership.
