About The Position

The Athletic Trainer (AT) will function under the direction of a physician as a vital part of a thriving Orthopedic & Sports Medicine team. The AT will perform two essential roles as a physician extender and outreach mentor. In the physician extender role, the AT will assist patient flow in the clinic by facilitating, documenting and communicating patient care-related activities, both within and related to services, along with casting and splinting as prescribed by the physician. In the outreach mentor role, the AT will provide clinical mentorship for the University of Florida (UF) graduate assistant ATs that serve the surrounding area high schools and UF Rec Sports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training or a related field (kinesiology, biomechanics, sports medicine, exercise science/physiology or health-related profession)
  • Internship route certification in athletic training, preferably with a master's in the same or related field
  • Two years' experience in a traditional on-field AT setting
  • BOC certification and Florida state licensure as an athletic trainer
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong computer literacy

Nice To Haves

  • Must be an AT for at least four years
  • Become CPR and First Aid Instructor Certified
  • Complete one additional certification (i.e. manual therapy)

Responsibilities

  • Assist patient flow in the clinic

  • Travel to area high schools to provide mentorship and on-site medical care
