This is an entry level, full-time, non-renewable 10-month position starting Fall 2026. Washington Athletics aims to inspire champions in competition and in the classroom. This position reports to the Associate Athletic Director for Health and Wellness.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in athletic training or other sports medicine area of study.
  • Must have NATABOC certification with current CPR and First Aid/AED certifications and must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Washington.
  • Successful candidates must have entry level proficiency in manual therapy, functional movement assessments, sport specific rehabilitation and injury prevention programs; have a demonstrated ability to relate to both men's and women's athletic injuries and health related issues; have a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with other intercollegiate athletic staff, coaches, and the local medical community, and must have excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Assist medical teams with administering comprehensive athletic training services to assigned Intercollegiate Athletics sports teams at the University of Washington.
  • Provide prevention, evaluation, and treatment of athletic injuries and illnesses, counseling and education to student-athletes as needed.
  • Assist with the coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away practice and competition, training, and strength and conditioning sessions.
  • Coordinate and schedule pre-participation exams and medical referrals to determine student-athlete readiness to participate.
  • Work collaboratively with the team physicians and other allied health care professionals.
  • Work with the strength and conditioning staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of individualized programming.
  • Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would benefit and improve the athletic training program.
  • Ensure accurate and thorough record keeping and documentation.
  • Assist with other athletic training and administrative duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to and carry out established policies and procedures.
  • Participate in a didactic educational course taught by UW Medical Team in conjunction with doctoral fellow.
  • Participate in monthly grand rounds and journal club with the UW Medical Team.
  • This position will also involve educational rotations with team physicians and medical specialists including physiatry, casting, nutrition, psychology, wellness services and others as assigned by educational director.
  • Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University.
  • The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations.
  • As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
