About The Position

The position is located at UCHealth Steadman Hawkins Sky Ridge in Lone Tree, Colorado, within the Cherry Creek School District. It is a PRN role with 0.0 FTE, meaning there are no guaranteed hours per pay period. The shift is flexible, and the pay ranges from $24.11 to $36.17 per hour, depending on the applicant's relevant experience. The primary responsibility of the role is to recognize, manage, and rehabilitate injuries to professional, amateur, and recreational athletes, as well as provide techniques for the prevention of injuries.

Requirements

  • Licensed Athletic Trainer
  • Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Bachelor's degree. Continuing education in the field.
  • Preferred: Master's degree.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: Certification by The Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (NATA-BOC). Licensure with the State of Colorado (DORA) as an Athletic Trainer (LAT).
  • Minimum Experience: None Required.
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in an orthopedic setting providing direct patient care. Experience working in conjunction with orthopedic/sports medicine physicians.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares athletes for practice or competition
  • Evaluates and manages injuries and determines whether a referral is necessary. Maintains a medical file on each athlete and acts as a liaison between the physician and the athlete.
  • Implements treatment and rehabilitation programs under the supervision of a physician.
  • Develops conditioning programs for injured and non-injured athletes.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
