About The Position

Beloit Health System is looking to add an Athletic Trainer to our Team! Shift: Varies with Sports Events Schedule: Varies (Work hours between 7a - 10p) Hours per week: Varies -- Per Diem Benefits Status: Not Eligible Department: Lee Lane Sports Medicine Center The Athletic Trainer (AT) provides athletic training services to the athletes and sports teams as directed within contract with Beloit Memorial Hospital. Services are provided in compliance with federal, state, professional organization, standards and scope of practice. Athletic training including concussion testing and treatment is provided to athletes which may include middle school, high school, and collegiate age groups. Evaluates/assesses athletes, develops plan of care and provides necessary treatment or refers appropriately based on medical needs and severity. Implements appropriate client interventions and obtains accurate and relevant data/documentation related to the interventions provided. Provides treatment interventions to patients that are safe, timely, effective, efficient, patient-centered, and equitable, in compliance with organizational policies and procedures. Orders, maintains, and inventories supplies at contracted school. Other duties as assigned Provides supervision of Industrial Rehabilitation clients/Pulmonary patients and provides pre-employment/post-offer screens in direction of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department. Participates in performance improvements, community, and staff education programs. Shares in supervision of student interns of Athletic Training programs or shadow students. Performs the necessary functions to prepare, maintain, and clean up the work area to ensure cleanliness and safety. Assists in the completion of the physical medicine checklist. The AT has regular access to and is expected to maintain the protected health information of patients in their care. Documentation is required and is in accordance with professional, regulatory, and institutional guidelines. Strong communication skills and a desire to strive for excellence and essential components of this position. The AT respectfully interacts with a wide variety of internal and external constituents, including (but are not limited to) team members, staff and physicians inside and outside the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, clients, families, teachers, Athletic Directors/secretaries, coaches, and companies. Provide coverage to other Physical Medicine locations and settings as necessary based on patient care/departmental needs. Work schedules are determined to meet patient care/department needs and shifts may be required on weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training. Or higher degree equivalent.
  • Pass a comprehensive test administered by the Board of Certification (BOC), prior to hire.
  • American Heart Association, Healthcare Provider CPR and AED Certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Valid driver's license and insured, reliable personal vehicle.
  • Possesses the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform one or more of the following activities (evaluation, treatment, and/or patient care) for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Familiarity with a variety of equipment, including computer software, is required.
  • Organization, time management, flexibility, and a positive attitude are crucial to successful performance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with employees, patients, athletes, school staff and family members.
  • Facilitation and management of pre/post-concussion testing.
  • Continuous professional development is expected.
  • Current License in the State of Wisconsin as an Athletic Trainer at the time of hire or prior to providing services.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple demands.
  • Maintain ethical conduct and keep confidential personal and medical information about patients/athletes.
  • Must adhere to established hospital and Physical Medicine departmental policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Services are provided in compliance with federal, state, professional organization.
