About The Position

Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital, as well as a clinic system with primary care clinics located in Minneapolis and across Hennepin County. The comprehensive healthcare system includes a 473-bed academic medical center, a large outpatient Clinic & Specialty Center, and a network of clinics in the North Loop, Whittier, and East Lake Street neighborhoods of Minneapolis, and in the suburban communities of Brooklyn Park, Golden Valley, Richfield, and St. Anthony Village. Hennepin Healthcare has a large psychiatric program, home care, and operates a research institute, philanthropic foundation, and Hennepin EMS. The system is operated by Hennepin Healthcare System, Inc., a subsidiary corporation of Hennepin County. We are currently seeking a full-time Athletic Trainer to join our Orthopedic Clinic. A hiring incentive is available for eligible external candidates (current employees, and former employees returning to HHS within one year are ineligible).

Requirements

  • Certified Athletic Trainer (AT-C)

Responsibilities

  • Assessment and treatment of patients with orthopedic conditions
  • Treatment and Rehabilitation - Technical training and proficiency in skills related to application of casting material, special braces, and orthopedic soft goods
  • Injury and Illness Prevention and Wellness Promotion
  • Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis under provider direction
  • Applies / removes protective or injury-preventive devices such as tape, bandages, casting, and braces under provider direction
  • Prepares for injections, changes dressings, applies durable medical equipment, and removes sutures/staples under provider direction
  • Provides first aid or emergency care
  • Assists provider with minor orthopedic procedures
  • Gathers and verifies pertinent patient information; compiles patient medical data
  • Assists with documentation of patient data into electronic health records system
  • Ensures coding requirements are followed during entry of patient information
  • Maintains an efficient, organized clinical flow
  • Acts as a prescribing delegate to enter medical orders into patient electronic records under the direct supervision of the provider
  • Prepares, stocks, and cleans exam room
  • Rooms patients and prepares for exam
  • Any and all other duties as assigned
