About The Position

Prince of Peace Catholic School Job Description Department: Administration Policy 405.10 Position : Athletic Director Reports to : Administrator Position Purpose : To provide for overall leadership and coordination among the various athletic teams, coaches and facilities related to the athletic program. Essential Functions : Athletic Management Attend and be responsible for the management of all home athletic events Recommend and implement operational policy and procedures of the athletic/activities program Support philosophically, spiritually, and physically the endeavors of the athletic program Evaluate coaches’ performance regularly Recommend the necessary, qualified coaching personnel Arrange for orientation of coaching staff to policies and procedures for all athletic programs Communicate with the Iowa High School Athletic Associations when necessary Attend conference athletic director’s meetings Report to the administrator all potential problems/matters/issues which may require his/her attention Perform other related duties as assigned by the administrator Athletic Facility Management Make recommendations for the maintenance and improvement of facilities and equipment to the administrator/facilities committee Supervise the athletic equipment/uniforms Coordinate with the maintenance department for the repair and upkeep of The Joe O'Donnell Sports Center and all practice areas and related facilities and fields Board of Education and Booster Club Attend athletic booster club meetings and serve as the school liaison Serve as a liaison between the coaches and the booster club Provide a written report and attend school board meetings monthly Arrange and attend athletic banquets Budget Work in conjunction with the business manager and administrator in developing the annual budget for the athletic program Seek coaches’ input into the annual budget process

Requirements

  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Effective public relations skills
  • Ability to work with children, adolescents and adults
  • Appropriate degree and license for an athletic director in Iowa
  • Experience as a coach at the high school level

  • Previous athletic/activities director preferred
