About The Position

The Athletic Academic Assistant at the University at Buffalo will provide academic advising and support to undergraduate student-athletes, ensuring they meet educational planning, course selection, and career goals. This role involves monitoring academic progress, developing individualized support plans, and managing a tutorial program for student-athletes.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree.
• Experience in an advising/counseling position in higher education or athletics department.
• Experience working with undergraduates and intercollegiate student-athletes, with knowledge of NCAA regulations.
• Database and word processing skills, along with strong communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree.
• Experience with a degree audit reporting system, including degree encoding and program development.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and monitor academic progress of student-athletes in relation to University and NCAA requirements.
• Provide accurate academic advisement regarding academic programs, course choices, and progress toward degrees.
• Develop and implement individualized academic support plans for identified students.
• Manage the tutorial program for student-athletes, including recruitment and supervision of tutorial staff.
• Design and implement academic strategies to teach study skills, time management, and goal setting.
