About The Position

The Athletic Academic Advisor at Queens University of Charlotte is responsible for providing supplemental academic advising to student-athletes in Division I athletics programs. This full-time position supports and monitors the academic progress of student-athletes, ensuring they meet NCAA and institutional requirements. The advisor collaborates with academic advisors, coaches, and faculty to facilitate student success and compliance with academic policies.

Requirements

  • Master's degree preferred in higher education administration or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1-2 years of experience advising NCAA Division I athletes or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and communicate with their primary academic advisors.
  • Provide supplemental academic advising on major exploration, academic requirements, and campus resources.
  • Assist student-athletes with course selection and eligibility requirements for NCAA and institutional regulations.
  • Outreach to academically at-risk student-athletes and arrange support meetings.
  • Work closely with the Center for Student Success and academic advising teams.
  • Complete final semester grade reports for athletic administration and coaches.
  • Communicate weekly with coaches regarding academic performance and updates.
  • Serve as a liaison between academic and non-academic departments to support student-athlete success.
  • Assist in creating programs for new student-athletes to transition into academic life.
  • Develop advising materials and presentations for student-athletes.
