About The Position
The purpose of this job is to plan, develop, supervise, and evaluate various Leisure Services Department programs. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to program planning, organizing, implementation and evaluation; supervising and training assigned employees; preparing long and short-term goals, instructing classes, ensuring safety in programs and facilities; creating and coordinating program publicity and promotion; and performing additional tasks as assigned. This position serves as the artistic and education director of Athens Creative Theatre, combining artistic vision with educational leadership. This individual will choose plays and other performances and lead the creative team to stage them at both the black box theatre, Quinn Hall (in Memorial Park), as well as the historic Morton Theatre. They will design and implement theatre education programs, including classes, workshops, camps, and productions for all ages. We are looking for a dynamic individual to manage the administrative aspects of running a community based, municipally operated theatre program while fostering creativity, providing educational opportunities, enriching the local creative economy, and engaging the community by introducing and expanding access to theatre.
