ATE technician will have working experience maintaining automatic test equipment (ATE) workstations – hardware and software. Replacing test equipment which has reached end-of-life with newer digital equipment while maintaining identical form, fit, and function. Tests and repairs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards, and assists in formulating calibration standards. Figures sequence of testing procedures for instruments and equipment, according to blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and other specifications. Prepares standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, and evaluate other instruments and test equipment. Disassembles instruments and equipment, using hand tools, and inspects components for defects. Measures parts for conformity with specifications, using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments. Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry before reassembly. Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.
