About The Position

The Nondestructive Testing Lab Technician will support the NDT instructors for the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing program, and is responsible for supporting students in the lab, inventory of material, lab set-up and tear-down, monitoring consumables, and providing overall support to the ATDM program. This position will require a driven individual to assist with lab preparation for an accelerated, short-term training program. Some travel may be required. Curriculum includes NDT methods Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) and Visual & Optical Testing (VT).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Creative thinking/Problem solving attitude
• Current technology skills related to teaching in the discipline and a willingness to pursue future technological developments
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Shop safety
• Technical math, including trigonometry
• Visual Testing (VT)
• Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
• Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)
• Radiographic Testing (RT)
• Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
• Radiation Safety
• Microsoft Office & General Computer Skills

Nice To Haves

• NAVSEA equivalence per T9074-AS-GIB-010/27
• Experience training and/or teaching in NDT or a related field
• Experience in submarine industrial base
• Familiarity with NAVSEA Technical Publications as they relate to the current requirements of the defense industrial base
• Experience with NDT of welds.
