The Department of Art, Art History, and Design at Michigan State University is currently establishing a pool of fixed term faculty in Apparel & Textile Design. These positions will be filled per course/per semester, on an as needed basis. Applicants in this pool are reviewed when the program has an immediate need to fill a vacancy as needed within two years to begin as early as August 2026. Successful candidates should be team-oriented and committed to advancing the Apparel & Textile Design discipline through the innovative use of traditional and modern technologies. Applicants should be passionate about creating a new generation of practitioners. The Apparel & Textile Design program in the Department of Art, Art History, & Design includes BA and BFA degrees. Courses may become available at introductory and advanced levels. Duties: Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in Apparel & Textile Design. Area courses include Basic Apparel Structuring; Explorations in Apparel & Textile Design; Structuring, Couture, and Tailored Garments; Textile Materials; Apparel Pattern Design; Design By Draping; Textile Design; Design Development and Presentation; Specialized Design; Knitwear Design; Design Studio: Global Context for Sustainable Design; Portfolio Development and Exhibition; Special Topics in Apparel; Special Topics in Textiles.
