About The Position

The Assistant Varsity Softball Coach at Loveland High School is responsible for assisting the varsity head coach in coordinating all aspects of the assigned interscholastic sport. This includes working cooperatively with all personnel and performing various duties to ensure the success of the athletic program. The position requires a commitment to the development of student-athletes and the maintenance of a positive and safe environment for all participants.

Requirements

  • Completion of Sports Medicine Program and CPR certification required.
  • Head coaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates coaching methods and assigned duties with the head coach to carry out the athletic program.
  • Assists the head coach in assessing player's skills, assigning team positions, and coaching individual participants.
  • Assumes responsibility for coaching the team and maintaining facilities in the absence of the head coach.
  • Reports all injuries and misconduct immediately to the head coach and athletic director.
  • Accompanies and supervises the team to and from all contests.
  • Attends all practices and staff meetings and accepts scouting assignments as required.
  • Assumes responsibility for all groups of athletes until they are dressed and have left the building.
  • Assists the head coach in issuing, checking in, and inventorying all equipment for the season.
  • Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which the sport is conducted.
  • Secures all gates, dressing rooms, locker rooms, and gymnasium or field facilities before leaving.
  • Assists the head coach with maintaining accurate statistics, records, and results of the season.
  • Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times.
  • Maintains competency in rules, rule interpretations, and coaching techniques.
  • Works with the head coach to ensure cleanliness and proper conditions of locker rooms and equipment.
  • Inventories equipment and uniforms and recommends purchases to the head coach.
  • Collaborates with the head coach to develop public communications about the athletic program.
  • Explains and demonstrates principles and techniques of the sport.
  • Observes students during practice to detect and correct mistakes.
  • Performs other sport-specific responsibilities as assigned.
