This role assumes the responsibilities of the department manager when they are off, performing all managerial tasks accordingly. The position focuses on increasing customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. The Assistant Manager provides fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service, and executes merchandising plans while monitoring supply expenses and managing cash control. This is a working management position that requires a balance of physical labor, delegation, team building, leadership, planning, and administrative work.

Requirements

  • High School / GED required.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Proficient with computer applications used in effectively operating the department.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish language skills preferred.
  • 0-3 years of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated, increasing customer confidence and loyalty.
  • Ensures the department is merchandised per plan and maintained for in-stock conditions.
  • Delivers daily conditions that meet the company’s expectations for freshness, quality, and value.
  • Trains department associates on inventory/stocking and computer-assisted ordering.
  • Offers assistance in finding or suggesting product selection.
  • Promotes trust and respect among associates by collaborating, promoting teamwork, and communicating company, department, and job-specific information.
  • Establishes goals for merchandising, sales, and profits and empowers the team to meet or exceed these goals.
  • Manages schedules to ensure tasks are completed during peak hours.
  • Completes daily and weekly administrative tasks including communications, online training, scheduling, pricing changes, orders, and receiving products.
  • Maintains awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and reports discrepancies.
  • Reviews/inspects products for quality and freshness and takes appropriate action.
  • Ensures compliance with safety, food handling practices, and sanitation standards.
  • Executes product recalls and withdrawals in a timely manner.
  • Reports safety risks, issues, and illegal activities.
  • Ensures adherence to wage and hour policies and cultivates a culture of safety.
