The Assistant Director for Campus Activities and JSAC will provide strategic leadership and oversight for campus activities and the Jaguar Student Activities Center, ensuring alignment with the university's mission and student engagement goals. This position will supervise the Coordinator for Student Involvement (Campus Activities) and Coordinator for Student Involvement (JSAC), while developing and implementing policies and procedures related to event planning and facility operations. Additionally, the Assistant Director will serve as a key resource for student programmers and other campus departments, facilitating collaboration to create standardized processes for successful event execution across campus.

  • SERVE AS THE CO-ADVISOR FOR THE JAGUAR PRODUCTION CREW: Works closely with the Coordinator of Student Involvement (Campus Activities) to elevate programming quality and student leadership, and to greenlight major events through clear readiness standards, learning outcomes, and 5-1-1 alignment. Facilitate student assistant meetings/trainings and implement a leadership development model. Evaluate post-event outcomes using an assessment framework and translate insights into improvements. Assist in planning major events (Concert, Homecoming, Pig Out, Mr. & Miss AU, etc.) through readiness reviews. Analyze proposed budgets/ROI and align recommendations with 5-1-1 engagement goals. Standardize SOPs/handbooks for Crew Student Assistants and Student Programming. Benchmark programming against NACA best practices and attend the annual NACA conference. Identify collaboration opportunities across campus and analyze data trends to inform the calendar.
  • SERVE AS A LEAD FOR JSAC OPERATIONS: Supervise the Coordinator of Student Involvement (JSAC) in day-to-day building standards and operational excellence for the JSAC, setting expectations for event readiness, student employee development, facility improvements, and inventory systems. Uphold JSAC building standards (access control, furniture care, postings, cleanliness, etc.) Review event readiness with the Coordinator of Student Involvement (JSAC) and align plans to meet office expectations. Standardize SOPs/handbooks and integrate ACUI-aligned practices across operations. Develop student employees (primary trainer) and facilitate JSAC Student Manager meetings and retreats; cultivate recognition and accountability system. Lead building improvement projects (renovations/upgrades, front-of-house enhancements) with campus partners. Manage storage and inventory systems, audit regularly, and plan lifecycle maintenance/replacements.
  • SERVE AS THE LEAD PROGRAMMER FOR WEEKS OF WELCOME: Leads planning and cross-campus coordination for Weeks of Welcome, ensuring a cohesive launch to the semester with reliable operations and strong student engagement. Lead the Welcome Back Bash and Welcome Brigade planning and coordinate stakeholders and resources. Publish and maintain the overall WoW calendar and webpage for accuracy and accessibility. Analyze proposed budgets/ROI and align recommendations with 5-1-1 engagement goals. Align departments and partners to resolve conflicts and capacity constraints in advance. Evaluate WoW results and embed lessons into the next term¿s expectations
  • SERVE AS THE MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS ALIGNMENT LEAD: Leads SLE promotion quality and channel strategy for JSAC and Crew initiatives, aligning content with 5-1-1 outcomes and ensuring consistent, accessible brand execution. Align messaging and campaign goals with 5-1-1. Validate creative quality before publication (accuracy, accessibility, brand voice & visuals). Design the channel-mix strategy (email, social, text messaging system) by initiative. Orchestrate digital signage and Stall Walls/Tear Drops scheduling and refresh cadence. Evaluate post-campaign performance and recommend next-cycle improvements.
  • OTHER: Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in higher education, student affairs, event management or a related field, and three years of experience in building/facility management, student activities, or general programming.

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in higher education, student affairs, event management or a related field and at least two years of work experience in student engagement, event planning, and/or facility management.
