About The Position

Position Overview:The primary responsibility of the Assistant Bartender - Pool is to ensure the bar is stocked and assists the Bartender with mixing and serving drinks as needed. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Requirements

21 years of age.
Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an Alcohol Awareness (TAM) card, Non-gaming card, Health card, and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
1-2 year high volume experience working in bar service in a luxury environment
Must possess a general understanding of beer, wine and spirits including specialty drinks.
Must be able to demonstrate superior customer service skills by presenting a friendly, relaxed and professional demeanor, ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail while meeting business demands.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Must maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment in accordance to Clark County Health Code Standards.
Must have basic knowledge of attractions/restaurants in the Las Vegas area and provided by The Venetian Resort.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina, proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts in person, over the phone, and on the radio while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
Must be able to work with others, communicate well, give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department goals and objectives.
Must maintain a positive attitude toward work and interface with hotel guests in a congenial and polite manner.
Must be able to address stressful situations with clients with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Lift, push or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
Must be willing to work outdoors in seasonal heat (100F+) or cold as well as inclement weather.
Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.

Responsibilities

Supports the Bartender in delivering exceptional service to guests, by mixing and serving drinks, as needed.
Provides unmatched service to guests at all times. Proactively seeks guest service opportunities.
Maintains stocks and supplies for the bar.
Ensures the outlet and equipment are clean.
Handles cash, credit, and comp transactions accurately and efficiently associated with beverage sales and provides appropriate change to the guest based on beverage sales.
Performs monthly liquor inventory.
Knowledge and terminology of beer, wine, and spirits. Must be familiar with domestic and import beers, different types of wine, brand name spirits, and garnishments including proper cutting method.
Knowledge of correct cleaning chemicals for barware, in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements. Must be regularly checked by supervisor to ensure proper handling of equipment and proper lifting techniques.
Knowledge and understanding of Alcohol Awareness training to include sale or service of alcohol.
Is responsible for ensuring that the beverage preparation areas comply with Clark County Health Codes. Performs other duties as assigned by management. Works in an appropriate non-hazardous manner avoiding self-injury and unsafe work methods.
Provides accurate directions and information for guest inquires and is knowledgeable about all aspects of the Venetian Casino Resort services, features, attractions, promotions and special events.
Provide a service or assistance to meet the needs of a guest, client or customer. Proper performance requires knowledge of a specific function or activity and familiarity with policies and procedures of the department. Comply with policies and procedures of the department or section in order to complete service satisfactorily. Proper performance requires some physical and mental dexterity in order to accomplish tasks associated with the completion of the service.
Possess skills to expedite clerical processing, perform a service, evaluate information, and take action based upon information to complete a task or assignment or activity.
Completion of a task or assignment requires use of equipment, tools or systems related to the proper performance of the service. Provide a service for others, and provide expertise based on information keyed, gathered, studied, processed or reviewed.
