About The Position

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will support the Head Athletic Trainer in providing a comprehensive athletic training program for student-athletes. This role involves attending athletic events and practices, managing athletic training student programs, and ensuring the prevention, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field including specified courses directly related to sports medicine/athletic training.
• Texas State licensure and NATABOC preferred.
• Current CPR/AED certification.
• One (1) year of Athletic Training experience.

Responsibilities

• Attend athletic events and practices to assist the Head Athletic Trainer.
• Provide an athletic training program for athletic team participants, including prevention, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
• Oversee and help manage the Athletic Training Student Program.
• Evaluate, refer, and treat athletic injuries while maintaining records of all injuries and related documentation.
• Supervise the operation of assigned training rooms and equipment.
• Help develop and evaluate student trainers and establish emergency injury procedures to be followed by coaches or athletic trainers.
• Communicate with parents, physicians, other athletic trainers, and coaches regarding injured athletes.
• Determine if and when an injured athlete can return to practice or re-enter games after injuries.

Benefits

• Salary range of $48,436 - $63,974 a year plus a $10,000 stipend for 207 days of work.
