The University of Kansas (KU) is seeking a qualified individual for a tenure/tenure track position in transportation engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor. The successful candidate will contribute to academic and research programs, focusing on cutting-edge transportation engineering topics such as smart mobility, transportation infrastructure systems, and sustainable solutions. The role includes teaching, conducting research, and participating in service activities within the university and the broader professional community.

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in civil/transportation engineering.
  • Develop courses and participate in curriculum development.
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students throughout their studies.
  • Conduct research related to data-driven approaches to emerging technologies and smart mobility.
  • Establish a strong research agenda leading to external grant support and publication in recognized refereed journals.
  • Participate in local, national, and international professional conferences and activities appropriate to the discipline.
  • Perform service activities expected of university faculty, including committee service to the Department, School, and University.
  • Earned doctorate in civil engineering or a closely-related discipline at the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrable expertise in data-driven approaches to emerging technologies and smart mobility.
  • Experience communicating ideas effectively and working well with others.
  • Demonstrated potential to develop an externally-funded research program and to design and teach high-quality undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Experience in transportation engineering modeling, including optimization, networks, and operations.
  • Established record of externally-funded research programs for Associate and Full Professor ranks.
