The Assistant Business Manager assists in managing all accounting functions including establishing and maintaining accounting procedures, reporting fiscal methods and procedures for payment of invoices and other related activities. Additional support service functions may include payroll, purchasing, communications, inventory, assets, information technology, and insurance. The Assistant Business Manager analyzes and monitors the annual budget for the assigned facility and advises management of budget status. They monitor contractual staffing plans and overtime, coordinating with the Director of Business Management to assist in achieving monthly budget throughout the year. The role involves preparing, researching, compiling, and analyzing financial data for the preparation of budget reports, lists, and miscellaneous management requests. The Assistant Business Manager reports the facility’s finances to management and offers suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts. They also direct the work of other employees, including selection, hiring, evaluating performance, employee training/development, promoting, and any disciplinary action, including termination. Other responsibilities include monitoring the maintenance of recording and control procedures involving the collection, evaluation, processing, preparation, submission, and reconciliation of accounts, preparing and approving billing documents, reviewing and approving all financial and accounting records, maintaining records for the operations fixed assets, and performing payroll audits and verifications.
